AGROPROTEINKA ltd. is the biggest processor of slaughterhouse waste and other waste of animal origin and the only open type of building for recycling waste of animal origin in Republic of Croatia. AGROPROTEINKA has a 50 year continuity and tradition of performing such an important role and its plant has been running at the present location for 20 years. The plant is located in Sesvetski Kraljevec and the company employs 72 workers. By increasing capacities and modernizing the processing during the past several years AGROPROTEINKA is enabled to collect and process the entire waste of Croatian slaughterhouse industry. AGROPROTEINKA daily collects animal waste with 20 specialized vehicles from the entire area of Croatia. The waste undergoes high temperature processing; it is recycled in the rendering houses to 25 percent solid residue, or meat bone meal and 15 percent liquid residue, or animal fats which are then used as recyclable sources of energy in chemical industry or as a component in animal nutrition. AGROPROTEINKA‘s complete and reliable system of management of organic substance and energy plays an important role in preventing the processes which can destabilize the sustainable ecosystem. Technological procedure of processing animal by-products used in AGROPROTEINKA is conducted according to the EU standards - sterilization “Method 1” EC No, 1774/2002 annex V, chapter III.
