BioWatt

BioWatt

BioWatt is the first and most modern biogas plant for sanitized bio waste in Croatia. By processing bio waste from canteens, kitchens and the food processing industry, we get electricity which we return to the electricity system. BioWatt is the first biogas plant that uses exclusively biodegradable waste as raw material, and this type of plant is called WASTE TO ENERGY. Processing results in heat and electricity. We use part of the thermal energy for our own needs, while we send the electricity to supply network of Hrvatska elektroprivreda (Croatian electrical network operator).

Restaurants, kitchens, hotel and other canteens, hospitals, elderly and nursing homes, student dormitories and large food processing companies produce significant amounts of organic waste daily. This waste can be used in our biogas plant with proper storage and treatment. Such clients are part of our environmentally friendly story.

What makes us different? Most biogas plants were created on farms and use manure or biomass as raw material. On the other hand, we also call our type of plant Urban Gas because it is the answer to the problem of waste in urban areas. This plant uses exclusively biodegradable waste from kitchens and canteens as raw material. Becoming a member country of the European Union, Croatia has assumed the obligation to produce at least 13.6 per cent of electricity from renewable sources by 2020, and BioWatt offers a solution for faster implementation of this obligation.
